Here are a few pictures from our day.  We took the city bus ( an all day pass for $2.75 to skip the traffic and parking.  It was a good decision) We meandered down the river walk. There were so many food choices to tempt us. We settled on the oldest Mexican restaurant on the river for lunch . I believe in total we walked over 10 miles that day.  Nicole found a delicious tea shop and I found a Smokey margarita.  We watched the river boats going up and down the river.(money maker). The grounds along the river walk are immaculate.  We made our way over to the Alamo. An amazing piece of history to stand in place where such brave men fought against all odds.

We headed back to the rv park for some down time. Swimming in the pool and the hot tub. MaryBeth ( Nicole’s good friend) and her husband Greg and the kiddos drove 3 hours to pick up Nicole and take her back to their down. Greg was so sweet. Said they’d drive no matter how far just to pick her up.  They were going to take her to a crawdad feast and more. After they all left the four of us headed back down to the river walk to see the evening lites. Beautiful. The boys got some dessert and then we took the late bus back ( 11:30 pm) back to the park.

As you can tell I’ve been too busy seeing the sites to share. On the 18th we left for Arlington, Tx. and headed to our next stop; San Antonio, Tx. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the flowers were along the side of the freeway; blue bonnets and more.

One of our fun stops was at Buc-ee’s . It’s s glorified gas station on steroids with 120 gas pumps an shopping  display of clothing, jewelry, toys, kitchen gadgets , dog toys , candles and more  ( take your time gassing up hubby; although we didn’t get gas here) and so many food choices  from beef brisket to fish tacos. They also had soda in Giant cups over 100 oz. After we left Buc-ee’s we continued on our travels  the traffic was not nice nor were some of the truckers. Oh well. We arrived at Travelers World rv Park. We will be here 4 nights.  We set up camp and I did some laundry then Nicole and I headed for the pool and the hot tub.

Wednesday we traveled to Waco. We checked out the lovely shop of Magnolia Farms. Visited the bakery. I have yet to eat my carrot cake cupcake. Walked around the grounds with rain here and there. Visited her lovely garden. Checked out Clint’s place( her wood worker ) saw his house that Chip and Joanne remodeled. ( he no longer lives there or works there. For obvious reasons. Drove over to the Texas Rangers ( not baseball ) museum. After that we checked out Magnolia Farms table. I bought a yummy loaf of zucchini bread. Cute place. Stopped of in Waxahachie . We rambled around the old courthouse. Got invited into the auditors office. ( Donna ; our retired county auditor liked that) got a balcony view . Found some fun boutique/ antique stores. Ate dinner at a steak house and was ready to crash. Had to head over to covered parking at mall. Lots of police cars parked there. Hail was expected ( baseball size) and winds up to 60 miles an hr. We got the thunder and lightening. Hail downgraded to quarter size but we prayed even that away. Booming thunder. Heavy rain. After a few hours we headed back to our rv and we were “out”.

Today was a ” do the laundry day and clean your rig. We were going to pay someone But they were a little too greedy. So although i am afraid of heights I found myself up on the roof with the hose a broom and a bucket of cleaner. Scrubbing, spraying and brooming. Yikes. Nicole and i managed a quick trip to the mall and a few thrift stores . It is so much fun shopping to Christian music. Later we headed off to the Texas Rangers baseball game. Fantastic seats picked out by Brad. 11 th row from the field. We got to see “Trout” the 435 million dollar man, play. Warm evening. Beautiful park. John has fried chicken placed between two donuts. Yes he loved it! A few calls flew our way but no luck in catching them. But lots of luck in not getting hit by them.

On Monday Donna and I got to spend the day with an old friend. She took us to a darling coffee shop( where the cook had a fire bomb; scary. ) Julie took us to a southern Texas lunch. Yummy. Smoked chicken. Mashed potatoes. Greens and creamed corn like I’ve never tasted before. Oh and delicious biscuits. We ventured into a furniture shop with beautifully made , gorgeous wood pieces. Wish I’d had a u-haul. Julie and her husband Jeff came over later and we all spent a lovely evening visiting .

We had a busy day yesterday in Fort Worth ,Texas. We started out at a botanical garden. I think some of the flowers were waiting to bloom. We did find a few. They had numerous Illuminated art ; of animals and flowers and some were even made out of recycled bottles. After the garden we made our way down to Fort Worth Art festival. Amazed at how people create such unique pieces of art. One man made some furniture all out of wood, ( not that that was unique) but that included wooden screws and all working parts were wooden. The bottom halves looked like industrial metal pieces and you could adjust the height of the piece up or down with all working gears out of wood.

After the art walk we made our way to Fort Worth Stockyards. This was an old cattle stockyard with cobbled streets. Many shops. A rodeo. A Opry house. RFD TV. Restaurants galore. Petting zoo. Cattle run and old fashioned robbery. After that we made our way to my cousins house for a delicious dinner and great company.

Treetops RV Park lives up to its name. We are nestled under the greenery of the treetops. We have a grassy area with our own little fountain. Can’t wait to explore the area. Met a rescued dog named ” Comet”. He’s from Minneapolis. John’s napping. Unit is clean inside from desert sand storm the day before. We are going to pay to get the rig cleaned on the outside. It’s a mess. And we’re on vacation.l

They weren’t kidding when they said you could drive for days…. Gorgeous flowers, green green fields of grass, cows roaming, bbq to die for. Lots of nice people . Women and men bathrooms. Yeah! So much cleaner.

The caverns were amazing. Over 1 1/2 miles down. 750 feet vertical. Temp of 56 degrees felt fabulous.

We arrived yesterday at our camp for 3 nights. That was after leaving New Mexico and entering into Texas and then back to New Mexico. 3 time changes . Climbed up 5400 in elevation. The weather here is gorgeous. We swam, showered, did laundry. And of course watched the NCAA championship game. Lots of fun. Heading to the caverns today.
